My mom went from shelter to shelter to find the "right" kitty to help fill the void when she lost her kitty to cancer. She found him in Nashua Humane Society and she lived in Mass. at the time. They allowed her to adopt her purfect one! I'd go visit. Maybe your purfect fit is waiting for you. I thnk June is a period where they are maxed out too!
Are there no shelters in mass with kittens, or is there a particular one you're looking at on their adoption list?
You should call them about adopting a kitten, and the interstate adoption requirements.
