You can normally take your dog but beds are normally on a waiting list availability. I'd say that the Salvation Army 14 day men's shelter in Santa Ana or the Courtyard in Santa Ana is a better bet. Can't say what they'll do about your dog. Call 211 for the Santa Ana info (there's a pickup point for the Salvation Army, and you show up at 7a at the old bus station for the Courtyard to apply. Get setup by tomorrow or Friday...or count on stealth urban camping...a health club membership for showers and bathrooms helps. For Costa Mesa, call the PD during office hours and tell them your situation. If you're not getting much traction there, ask for John B's number but as far as calling him I'll give you a hint: He's got way too much on his plate but if he can, he'll help but if you get an out of area call, answer it. He doesn't have time to play phone tag and far too many people ask for help, but don't ever follow up on what they need to do. Answer any questions honestly. Don't hold back
Go to SOS in Costa Mesa, they can help you with ínfo at the church
