Sadly feral cats have very short life spans. Special if the tom is not fixed between fighting and traffic they don't live very long. Check places like under you house or out building if he felt safe there he would hide if he had been badly hurt to die. Or he might have lost his territory to another tom cat so moved on some place else. Sorry I don't have better news then that.
The Humane Society of Sonoma County, formally known as Sonoma Humane Society, doesn't really deal with ferals. They have/had a Barn Cat Program, which involves trapping them and relocating them, but finding the properties is rare... Best to call Forgotten Felines... they will find ferals, trap and fix them-cutting the tips of their ear, to mark they've been fixed, sometimes microchip-and return them to their territory (this is usually with larger populations)... moreover, many will call them to report a 'found' cat, which they'll trap, bring in, scan for microchips, and if none, will try to find new homes for them...in the interim, they'll send them to a foster home.
I would call the animal humane ask if there any programs going on with ferel cats?
I have not heard to that but I wilk look into it and answer as fast as I can
