The Hollywood Bowl is a few miles west of Griffith Park, maybe five. I have hiked to the observatory from Western Ave and Franklin, then from the Observatory across the hills to the HOLLYWOOD sign, and down to Hollywood Blvd. to watch the Santa Claus Lane Parade. It was a grueling hike for a Mom (me) leading half a dozen Cub Scouts! It was also a very long time ago! (Mid-1970s)
