Yes, if you get stuck in the snow and signs say chains required, you can be cited by the CHP or local sheriff. If you have children with you you can be charged with child endangerment. I know it happened to our niece. Make sure during winter travel you have a supply of blankets, water and granola bars stored in the trunk. I know, it happened to me and I was stuck for three days. I was ready to eat the bark off of trees. We always think it will happen to the other guys. Drive carefully, remember ice on the road cannot be seen unil it is too late. It is the rock rule. A hot rock looks the same temperature as a cold one.
