I would strongly recommend that you do not do so. Illegal or not, that is cruel and inhumane. You should receive the same treatment. I say this as an animal lover and owner of three cats myself.
Corona animal shelter/control doesn't care what happens to feral cats. Or any stray cats for that matter. Five minutes ago animal control came out for a stray 4 week old kitten. Poked it with a stick, said thank you and left it. Slightly unrelated but it should be known, that they lack compassion and only see sets of procedures regardless of circumstance.
