There is a large, lit (unpatrolled) lot behind the hotel. It looks like anyone can in park in the lot provided they pay at the box (you can pay through the hotel). The sketchy part is the gas station to the south has some characters that loiter all hours of the night. Nothing happened to our vehicle, but I was nervous about it the whole time.
I would pass on having a car if you use Uber. I find a car to be a stressful liability in this neighborhood, which is the same one that I live and work in. The hotel and deli are awesome so I think you'll have a great stay!
You can park for free if you opt for the street side spots about a half block to the East. The signs say the parking is good for 2hrs, but there really aren't any patrols by enforcement. (I work at Modo Yoga across the street so I'm down there all the time, no tickets yet!)
$25 a night for parking in a lot behind the hotel. Super convenient but depending on what your plans are walking/public transit/ ride share is probably the way to go
