Yea, you still need a reservation. You have to check frequently for find open time slots, but I noticed that they have been releasing dates a week at a time.
Yes, you need reservations and I believe they are closed on Monday and Tuesday. They have 3 slots 8am, 11am and 2pm. We arrived at 9:45 for our 11am time a lot and they let us start our hike at that time.
