Eaton Canyon Nature Center is a must visit Trail, it’s a decent hiking trail. Their are lots shady spots if you’re not a early bird! Overall it’s very nice and relaxing!

Pro; beautiful, easy/moderate hike to the waterfall, dog friendly. Con; can be overcrowded from time to time, and people need to take their trash out with them(if not, stay home in your own filth).

Was in the Pasadena area and wanted to try a hike in the San Gabriel Mountains. Came on Sunday mid-morning, so the parking was pretty full, but people were constantly coming and going. I wasn't quite sure which trail to take to get to the waterfall, so followed others to the left and stayed on the main trail. There's several small trails that veer off the main path, but I stayed on the main path. After about 30 minutes, you'll get to a small sign that says Eaton Canyon Falls 1/2 mile ahead. I followed that sign to the right, but the trail quickly disappeared. It's hard to tell where the trail continues, but basically follow the water upstream. Since there's not an obvious path, you'll have to cut back and forth across the water carefully picking your own path. I'd rate this a moderate hike as some parts require some balancing, small jumps, some climbs, and some descents. After about 45-60 minutes, you finally reach the end of the hike where the waterfall is located. It rained a few days before my hike so the water was flowing at a decent rate. I was told by locals it can only be a trickle during the dry periods. The hike fun with plenty of shade after the first 15 minutes of open trails. The trails and paths were plenty wide and free of debris. Nice hike with plenty of scenery and wildlife. Will definitely come back and try some of the smaller trails, but still concluding at the waterfall.

This hike is moderate and awesome. 50/50 sun and shade. You will be hitting the sunlight till you go approach the over pass. After the bridge the canyon is more pleasurable cause of the shade, water and trees. Trail is uneven and you will stepping on rocks and boulders. Bring hiking boots if you want to prevent an sprained ankle. The trail is good for all ages and for dogs on a leash. Waterfall has plenty of water now. This trails is pretty busy on weekends and holidays. Eaton Canyon offers a big parking lot. Arrive earlier, pack in and out your trash and practice the 7 leave no trace principles. Please do not leave trash behind.

The terrain near the nature center is mostly flat and kid friendly. The nature center itself is great for kids!
Yes, at the bottom of the main entrance ramp. The additional parking is on the right.
If the season is not to dry the stream and water fall will have enough water and you can get wet. But if your concern is that you do not want to get wet even if is water in the stream there are step stones so you do not get wet
Yes! But just fyi bring some tp just in case. Last time they didn't have any
Yes... And on a warm day,its even better... Bring your Tiger balm just in case, but it should be just fine.
If you get there before you can park and the neighborhood you'll be fine
It is almost 3 miles that you have to walk to get to the Cascade and there is not much water
Yes you can bring dogs :) Lots of dogs actually. Make sure they’re on a leash. Wouldn’t want dog fighting as I’ve encountered some before.
I believe it is open 7 days a week from sun up to sum down.
No reservation needed. Get there early to get parking on the lot.
Yea, you still need a reservation. You have to check frequently for find open time slots, but I noticed that they have been releasing dates a week at a time.
It is open now
Yes you need to reserve beforehand.
Only with reservation, you have to do it in Lacountry, that's the name of the page.
Reservations.lacounty.gov I also believe you need to do it at least a day in advance
Depends on the air quality from the fires, BUT you can only go if you have a reservation.
You need to go to it's website and make appointment to visit there!
Under all circumstances, max 80/time slot. Weekdays have less people.
It was like that last week. You better call before going. Most likely, you would need to make reservations. I believe reservations are a week out.

You don't have to pay, but you need to make a reservation online.
If you are away from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
They do not charge or seen bears, a lot of people go and there are people looking after them and the sheriff too, but I think it was sawn because there were many people last Saturday
With the new reservation system in place, all cars need to be out a little after five. They are locking all the gates now.
It's about 30 minutes walking distance, it might be more depending the speed of your walking.
Not sure, you may want to check on the parks and recreation website
No coals
No
Leash required, though many ignore it a fine if they catch you, though.
The walks are closed at sunset. One can stay until 7 if the sun is still outside. 👌🏼👌🏼
I recommend wearing tennis shoes that are non slip and that you don't mind getting wet also bring a walking stick for stability if you don't have one they sell them in the gift shop at Eaton Canyon's gift shop, I bought one for both of my 2 son,(( about $45.00 apiece)) But they did have smaller less pricey canes around $20.
Call the Eaton Canyon museum/gift shop...all answer's to all info. Is there.
It's a great home. Beautiful. Be careful of the water probably high since it's been so much rain
