The Oregon Lottery will withhold 8% state tax on all prizes of $1,500 or more. For all non-Video Lottery prizes of $5,000 or more, the 8% state taxes AND 24% federal taxes will be withheld. Video Lottery prizes will have only the 8% state tax withheld.

8% is what Oregon takes when they write the check, no one knows what the feds will take when taxes are paid at the end of the year. Last year my daughter paid $650 on a win of $1500, it all depends on your tax program.

Taxes are 8% for prizes over $1,500 and less than $5,000
