It's not recommending to have mismatched tires... If you have to do that try to get as close to the tread pattern as possible and make sure that they're balanced...
We recommend that when replacing tires for two wheel drive vehicles it's best to buy in even sets of two or four so your vehicle has a matching set on either the front, the rear or both. With four wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicles it's best to replace all four tires with a matchuing set at the same time otherwise the vehicle will not handle as well. If it has been over a year since the last alignment was completed, it's recommended to have an alignment done when replacing two or more tires on your vehicle to maximize the tread life and your vehicle's handling on the road.
