Christopher gave a good answer below. We recommend that brakes are checked every year or every 25,000 to 30,000 miles for cars, and every 20,000 to 25,000 miles for trucks. Of course if your brakes are not stopping evenly or making noises when stopping, you should have them checked just in case a serious problem is developing.
