Great question Danny. Christopher provided a good answer to your question and it's mostly accurate, if you know how much wear is left on the used tires you're looking at. Here's some information that will help: In the USA, tire tread depth is measured in 32nds of an inch. New tires typically come with up to 11/32” tread depths, and some truck, SUV, and winter tires may have deeper tread depths for specialty uses. If the used tires you're considering have at least 5/32" tread depth, you should be able to get about 15,000 - 20,000 miles of life out of them. This is assuming that you don't have any wheel alignment issues that will cause them to wear out much faster. The US Dept of Transportation recommends that you replace your tires when they reach 2/32” - many states legally require tires to be replaced at this depth.
