Yes, at night. There is a culvert at the RV park, and a entire 100 foot wide underpass near the former quarry that allows movement of deer and mountain lions from one side of the 91 freeway to the other side. I am pretty sure I saw a mountain lion early in the morning about 10 years ago at Carbon Canyon regional park near the sequoia grove. Huge paw prints in mud, and scratch marks 10 ft. up a tree. Like a big, big kitty cat. Saw it up on the adjacent hill, the most distinctive thing was the long tail.
Yes...all of the Santa Ana Mountains and their foothills like Limestone Canyon, Whiting Ranch, etc. Have a small population of Mountain Lions. That said, they RARELY even come close to people and so long as you go to these areas with others, you will be fine. The only attacks that have taken place were with lone mountain bikers or hikers, or joggers. Goibg alone into a wilderness area is always stupid so go with others, you will be fine.
The last time I've heard a report of mountain lions, it was over 10 years ago. Don't go alone, be responsible and they will leave you alone.
Yes
Twilight/night (when the park is closed anyway) are the times they come out.. "Opportunistic hunters, mountain lions typically hunt alone from dusk to dawn, taking their prey (primarily deer) from behind. On average, a lion will kill a deer every ten to fourteen days."
I don't know
