You might be able to find an unregistered spot higher up the mountain, but its not likely.

6pm on a Friday night? Not good. Summer is the most popular and Friday through Sundays are always the busiest any time of year. If you want a better chance get there around noon-2pm. Anyone leaving will be gone by then. Think of it like a hotel.....
