Will they take a dog and keep it and not put. It down?

They are a no kill shelter. But I believe they will be requesting some money when you turn in the dog, but not sure how much. You'll need to call them to find that out.

Karen is absolutely correct. They will NOT put the dog down. It's against there's and my nature to do such a thing. They will take care of it like it is the last animal on earth.
