As an avid pet lover who's adopted through the years from several humane shelters I had a great experience here. Started browsing for adoptable cats knowing in mind I wanted specific traits including someone who needed a family of their own. Found a great kitty who is adorable and loving. Staff was knowledgeable and really took the time to answer any questions they could and did all they could to make sure we were the right fit. Once submitted the application process was easy and they set an appointment for us to come meet kitty one on one. The shelter was clean with everyone well cared for. Adoption fees were reasonable, especially for adopting an adolescent or older kitty. I'll be gladly letting those know if your looking to adopt your next pet this shelter is one to check out! P.S my new girl is settling in nicely with the family! We're still waiting to see what her new name will be (My vote is Merida as all ours have Disney names)

They were very helpful and friendly when I brought Meeko, my kitty to be surrender on Friday the 27th. If you don't have a car like I don't you had to take the bus and walk about four miles the Humane Society

They literally wouldn’t take my dog in for adoption just cause he pulls when he’s on a leash. Like if you’re gonna work with animals you should have staff that’s capable of doing so. Like what are you going to do when a Dog you’re walking sees a squirrel or cat walking by it’s going to run after it and big or small the dog is going to pull hard so just because my dog pulls outta bad habit shouldn’t be a reason you can’t take a dog in. And thanks for letting us know that “no one is going to want to adopt your problem” btw why would you let a almost 70 year old person handle a pit Bull that are clearly know for being strong.

Great place to adopt a pet. I got my second cat Pearl here. She was a mother of 8 and was a great mom. Two of her kittens were adopted by family and she sees them often. Pearl is doing really well and has been a joy to have. She talks a lot and enjoys attention. Shes getting along well with my 17 year old tortoise shell Priscilla.

Depends on age check the wesite also ask about dogs not listed that are in foster care
Yes they take cats. But only when they are open
You go and ask for paperwork to surrender your dog. You also have to pay a small fee.
Depends Male or female $50-70 and shots range on what u need. About 45
Hi Ann, my name is Doryan. I work at the Oregon Humane Society Salem Location. We have several older dogs that would fit your needed description. Please stop by any day between the hours of 10-7 and we would be happy to help you find the perfect fit. Thanks for rescuing ❤️
Hi Brenda! Volunteers must be a minimum of 16 years of age and complete all volunteer training and paperwork. Individuals between ages 12 and 15 may volunteer with a parent or guardian over the age of 18. For more information, please visit https://whs4pets.org/volunteer/.
Before bringing them to the shelter, we strongly recommend BJ's advice re: bringing the cat to a local vet to see if they're microchipped, checking with your neighbors to see if the cat belongs to someone, and posting on FB Lost & Found pages. If no luck, you can always bring them to us.
Cindy, what city do you live in, please? I might be able to direct you to the proper authorities to help you.
We went once and the dog was up to date in everything. The next day we took him home. Unfortunately we had to take him back. But with Naya and Toby we got them the same day. I guess after you have records with them it's easier.
You can pay with a debit card Visa or MasterCard
Best thing to do is go down there and look, I don't believe they will tell you over the phone.
I cannot answer your question, but if you go to the shelter ,they might have answers for you. Just explain your situation and they can probably help you find the right people who do this procedure . I know they only take in cats and dogs, but know doctors and clinics that can help.
I don't know of anyone right off top of my head but I have a couple friends who are into pets like thati will ask around
Yes. But I believe there is a surrender fee of $35. You could call Marion county animal control and or take him there and I don't know if there is a surrender fee there tho.. sorry. Hope that helped any!
Minimum age is 18 to adopt. If you go to their website, full instructions and application are there
You'd have to call them directly I believe.
Take it to the humane society and they can scan for a identity chip
Besides the Humane Society there's also Friends of felines, the lost and found page Shannon mentioned. I would also ask the neighbors. I hope you find her.
You'll have to go do paper work, wait to get approved, and they will have your dog do a meet and greet to make sure they get along. It takes a few hours or more
Perhaps see what is listed as up for adoption on their website or call. Other than that, you may have to look elsewhere.
Hi there Elsa! We are so sorry to hear about this situation and understand how frustrating that must be for you. As this is not an issue of animal neglect or mistreatment, we suggest you speak directly to your neighbor about your qualm. Best of luck!
The humane society provides traps for you to collect animals, you can drop them off with the cage anytime.
Hi Diana! Please visit our normal website. You can look at animals that are available for adoption (maybe your baby is in there) not all our animals are put online immediately so please call and we can discuss breed/age/location brought in/ we scan every animal for a chip.
They are not doing dogs at this time besides the ones in their care. It says it on their website unfortunately
Yes, appointments are required. 😺
Not true. There is almost always a cost for kittens. Prices change by age. Kittens are the most expensive. Check the website. If you see a kitten you like, the cost will be listed.
You will have to call them at there office, I'm just a customer like you
You have to call and schedule an appointment.
Call and schedule an appointment
They did before COVID (unsure if they have new rules)
I dealt with humane society and with this virus going on they check their voicemail every other day. But sundays are the best days to actually get a hold of someone and get an appt set up.
I think yes! But you must contact them. They have a good history with cats.
I want to say $25 ? And there usually wormed spayed or neutered .
Yea
They are only open to visitors on certain days of the week. But yes, on those days you are able to request to adopt an animal the same day. There is a process though, so you may not get approval that same day and you are not able to take the animal home the same day.
Don't know. Call and ask.
If it was me I'd call them and ask.
You can call and set up an apt or do a stray surrender by walk in
Yes I
See above answer
Yes. Thanks for caring.
Yes
I recommend calling them directly. That is a pretty sensitive subject that doesnt belong on a public platform.
They are closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Cats and dogs are the main focus. They can perhaps connect you with other animal groups.
You might want to check with marion county animal control agency. Maybe they can direct you to help. You are looking for.
200-800$ . Puppies are usually more expensive.
They charge by the weight of the dog. So you will have to call them and ask some questions.v
Go online and see the dogs available for adoption if it's not pictured then no we don't
Call animal control or the Willamette Humane Society and ask them what to do.
Yes the gladly take donations.
You would need to go in person to get information, it would be easier, unless you call early.
Policies change. Best option is to ask directly when calling to schedule the surrender appointment.
Depends on the age of the dog that's how they determine the adoption fee
Call and make an appointment to bring in your animal. They will give you forms to fill out asking about your pet and then once they're filled out to take your pet and your forms to the front. They will enter the basics into the system ask you some questions and then they will take your pet. The staff was very friendly and very sympathetic to the fact that I had to give up my cat. I found out last week that she had been adopted. Good luck
I did call MCSD last night after the dog started doing this. They took the information and after about 11:30 on I didn't hear the dog. The sheriff's department said they would come out and check on the situation and I think they must have. Thanks for you reply.
Yes they do
You don't need a coupon...just call and make appointment and I think they want a deposit.
You can check out their website for a list of adoptable dogs! https://whs4pets.org
No
I can have that done here but most of my neighbors are not animal lovers and want them gone.we've had several fixed in past 2 yrs.kept 5 for us.hard for me to get around so I sure need help.thanks..hoping to find some farms for them ..they are nice looking cats
I know that several years ago they wouldn't take a stay cat in unless you paid them $30. I had went in and asked and that'S WHAT THEY TOLD ME BUT KEEP IN MIND THIS WAS SEVERAL YEARS AGO. SO I A CAN'T BE SURE ABOUT NOW.
To surrender an animal you have to make an appointment first.
I know that if you receive food stamps you can have your cat spade for $25.
I believe that they do. I know if you are 65 that Marion county dog control will license your dog that is fixed and up to date on rabies for just 5 dollars per year.
I am not sure but I do not think so.
No fee to drop off a stray.
Feral cats must be brought in a feral cat live trap, not a carrier. :)
Yes they cremate there, my wife works for the shelter.
You would have to call them on Monday then
Call and ask :)
Is this still accurate?
Give them a call and they will tell you how much and how old the cat needs to be. The kitty we adopted had the shots and altered. Good luck
When did you last see her? I volunteer at the shelter and will be there this morning.
Call or better yet... go into the Humane Society tomorrow, they open at noon. Good luck.
Are you trying to adopt? Surrender or get them fixed? Each animals adoption and price to get them fixed ranges. Surrender fees also range!
I would call them. I don't know. Sorry
Ge them in asap dependsing on age they need to be fed as much as every 2 hours !!!
No , sorry
Not sure what they can do for you. But people should know that most apartment complexes don't allow fur children and to me that's another form of abuse . Having them bond with you and then giving it up. We adopted our boy due to just that. People should think about it before taking in a fur kids. I hope you find someone that will be loving fur parents.
If you can't wait for an appt you might check with Friends of Felines
They take in animals of all ages.
They are a no kill shelter. But I believe they will be requesting some money when you turn in the dog, but not sure how much. You'll need to call them to find that out.
Check with your local vet. Shots are provided for animals in the care of the shelter who are getting ready for adoption.
They do adoptions kittens are sent to their vet for spay and neuter
Also check lost and found pets of Salem facebook page
This is a dog & cat shelter only.
That's great ! Info on the website as well as dates / times for orientation
Stray dogs go to Marion county dog shelter and no they don't charge to turn in s stray
Kimberly and KN both have good ideas. It's best to stay away from things like Craigslist and such. You never know what intent those people may have. F of F and the humane society have a genuine concern about the well being of the animals and will do their best to keep them together. Hopefully you have time to get them the forever home they deserve and keep them together.
The humane society and even some vets will offer specials from time to time. Call the humane society and see if they have more information
They can only do spay and neuter for dogs if you are on government assistance and cats they can do if you are or are not on assistance. You would need to call them and schedule an appointment to bring the cat in. It is 50 for a male cat and 70 for a female cat. Dogs have to be at least 4 months old and younger than 6 years old and under 90 pounds. It is all on the website
The shelter does it's best to find every dog or cat a forever home. Surrendering your pet gives it the best chance, please never consider abandoning it. Thanks
Maybe call them first....and there is a small fee but they usually don't turn down animals
I wouldn't. I would take them to a prescription drug recycler
Why don't you just ask them about it?
First go there in person to choose a dog then you fill out a short adoption paper work questionnaire. Adoption fees for puppies start @ $125.00, (rare breeds up to $500.) Adult dogs $100. - $400 and senior dogs (7+years) start @$60.
I've only seen dogs and cats, but why don't you call and ask them. I'm sure they get that question quite often.
If this relates to adopting a pet you will need to contact the society
Closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Open 12-7 Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Monday. 12-6 on Sunday
