It's any proof of your service, vet card, military id, dd214, etc and I say, these days, using a discount on any purchase is a blessing (but sure, larger % off is never discouraged)
I've heard from other veterans you need your military ID
They want you to provide proof of being a veteran. And then they only allow you to use your discount on certain days of the year..veterans day etc. I also believe it is only 10% off. Which is really only good for large purchases.. like appliances and maybe power tools.
