A swollen ear is likely a hematoma, where blood pools between the layers of the ear. It is generally caused by infection or irritation that causes the dog to shake it's head. Treatment is surgery where the blood it drained from the pocket and the layers of the ear are sewn together. Diagnosis would have to be done by a veterinarian at an appointment.

It could be many things. If you call the vet they will need to see the dog. Google the symptoms it might help. Hope your grand dog gets better.🙏🐶
