LOL It's exactly the opposite. Like naming a place Greenland when it's icy, and Iceland which is green. Hope you get a chance to enjoy all it has to offer.
Its called cape Disappointment because many,many ships are sunk off of the point. Its an outright wonder to visit. The beaches near there offer a grand time with the family.
I forget the story behind the name, but it's not disappointing at all. Some areas are closed to the public right now due to Covid, but you can still see a lot of beautiful scenery and walk the trails. It's definitely worth checking out.
There are various ways to see the lighthouse. The different weather and the different tides, seasons ensure the views are never the same. Great Golden hour. Hiking trails. Sandy beaches. And there are 2 lighthouses-the North Head. And people numbers are not overwhelming. Of course we like Sept-Oct and Feb-May.
