Most of the camping sites are first come first served according to the website. Are there usually open spots? We want to go this coming Saturday but we are afraid we won't get a spot. Its not exactly close to our house.

There is the reserved area and the 1st come 1st serve area. Reserved area fills up months in advance. The non reserved is risky on a weekend. Get in line at the gatehouse at least 30-40 mins before the gatehouse opens.

My mom always made reservations because it fills up fast

It was completely full this past weekend.

From my experience we have always had to book a spot months in advance. Good luck.
