Partially true. The valley leading to Silver Lake was filled in. There has been a lot of erosion and plant life move in since the eruption. There is now a canyon, much deeper than expected.
No canyon, it was filled up with most of the rock and earth from the north face of the mountain.
Were there any deep erosional surfaces created in " bed rock" or to bed rock as a result of eruption?
