First time donations take about 2.5-3 hours due to the exam. Marti is right, you should eat and drink lots of water before the donation. To speed up the actual donating, just repeatedly squeeze your hand to keep the blood flow consistent. I do that when I donate and once they've got the needle in me it only takes about 45 minutes. If you don't squeeze your hand, it will take at least twice as long.
It depends how many people there and how long your actual donation flow takes, drink lots of water day before donation to speed up donation. could be anywhere between 2-4 hours. I recommend calling first before going to ensure that they are accepting new donors as they now have a limit on number of new donors each day.
