They will typically shut down the trails.
Even if the park were open, the majority of trails will be closed to the public. In my experience, they usually wait for it to melt off of the trails before they open them back up. You still have to be careful, because there could still be icy patches after it starts melting.
Although the usual practice is to close the park when there is ice. The park was OPEN 12/8/17. There wasnt very many visitors but the Park Ranger was out in it with them...being sure trails were safe for the few brave to enjoy. Thank you! The scenery is beautiful normally but with a fresh untouched winter white blanket....BREATHTAKING! (See a few of the photos I posted)
