The earlier you arrive, the better seat you can get. It is the holiday time frame and it could be packed. 30 to 40 minutes before the gates close.
30 minutes prior is slways the best. You do know the Amtrak web site has a great system to track train times, right? No sense in getting there early for a train that's going to be late.
