How long is the hike to the park? Is it all downhill? I have a 2 and 5 year old and we tried it today but I was worried I would end up carrying both back up?

It's one way trail 2.2 miles downhill. That means you have to walk uphill all the way back where you started. I see kids in that age every time I go there, also there are multiple stops on the way where you can set and rest. I recommend to go with light loads for the first time, and check how it goes. It is highly recommend btw.

It is a fairly steep and steady climb back out. Picnic point is more accessible for little kids. Lots if picnic tables and close to beach. Tide was up when I went, so beach was tiny

It's barely over a mile to the beach. My 4 year old grandson did the entire hike down and back without help.

It is a long hike, we never made it all the way down, spent 20 minutes walking and found it was another 30 minute walk and turned around.
