I am being told by people that I can get a membership at the YMCA at a very low price because I have medical issues and receive state medical and food help. Is this true? And at what cost? And where can I sign up and start using the facilities?

Hi Barbie, I suggest going into the branch and speaking with a membership staff. They can walk you through the process and answer any questions that you may have. Thank You!

You go in and fill out an application for financial aid. Anyone low income enough to receive state benefits can get a reduced and or free membership. I do believe it's anywhere is from 10 to $30, but don't quote me on that. Just have to go fill it out and see what they tell you. It takes about a week to week and a half to get a reply. But well worth the wait

Yes it is true. My husband and I do this. You have to fill out the application online on the ymcas website. Then they will want proof that you recieve state benefits. I get an "award" letter from dshs to take to the y to show that I recieve help. My husband and I pay $40 a month for our membership. And we get full use of the gym. Totally worth it... :) Hope this helps.
