Thornewood castle was used in a Stephen King mini series and the castle was used for filming. The film used the name Rose Red. But the castle has never been called Rose Red. Check out google and Thornewood castle website to learn the history, it is pretty amazing.

Thornewood is not known formally as rose red but it is the filming location for the movie adaptation of the Stephen King novel. It has its own story to tell separate of that of the novel and movie. There is plenty of information on the castle online and on their website.
