I was just there a week ago (Friday) and didn't need to pick a time. I did buy the Space Needle/Chihuly Garden combo pass. The space needle required a time but only due to elevator capacity. We went to the glass garden when we were ready and just went in with no problem.
Yes they do when you get tickets but it was pretty relaxed when we went [meaning we got in before our slated time]
Due to COVID, they do have a timed entry.
Didn't need a reservation for it. Buy a ticket at the door and it is all self guided. It's beautiful. You can spend as much time as you want wandering through and enjoying it. At the end there is a demo of glass blowing. At least when we were there Oct 6, 2021.
