Any kind of hammer will work. Not much effort is needed to create the ringing.

I went recently with a 2 year old who had a great time hammering rocks. All they need is a tap. As long as the child can lift the hammer, they can make sound.

Hammer very loosely with a regular hammer. Any kind of hammer works, but all metal vibrates best. Wearing sensible shoes is more important than type of hammer! Have fun

We took just a regular standard hammer and yes any kid can do it you dont have to hit it hard at all.
