No local would EVER swim there. The water is awful. Drive out to Mustang/Padre where, BTW, there's real sand, sand dollars, dunes, etc.

Although there was no lifegaurd on duty, the water was as normal as can be. Water shoes will really keep your feet safe from getting cuts which could lead to problems.
