Various parking options, but street parking further from the center is free
If you stay at a hotel or inn on the plaza, the parking would be free.
I went to the Santa Fe Visitor Information Center (491 Old Santa Fe Trail) and picked up a handy parking map for parking around the Plaza. The parking lot behind the visitors center is a nice option for free parking. Plan on walking at least a couple blocks no matter where you park in the plaza.
There are paid parking spaces along the streets
Additionally, if you happen to have a handicap placard or license plate you can park at ANY open street parking spot (whether it's labeled handicap or not) and you do NOT HAVE TO PAY!
Instead of looking for an open meter I just park in the parking garage on San Francisco street!
Street parking, meters. Lot parking behind Loretto $20 a day.
