I’m a grad student at A&M,Due to time constraints I’ve not been able to register my car in Texas. In the website it says that students don’t need to shift ID/car to Texas. Can I get my DL changed to TX first?

If the car is in your name then you must get a Texas license plate before you can get a Texas DL. If the car is not titled in your name then you can get your Texas DL without Texas plate. However you must have 2 items that prove your residence I/E lease utility bill etc
