Metal detectors are permitted in all of the mining areas if you purchase a mining permit. The creek is part of the mining area. If you do not have a active mining permit you will not have access to be at the creek or other mining areas onsite. Mining permits can be purchased onsite at the sluiceway. All pricing can be found on our website (Emeraldhollowmine.com) Emerald Hollow Mine is a active mine with a active mining permit. All customers that are in a mining area must have a mining permit (No exceptions).

Why would you want to? Wouldn't that take away most of the fun?

They are very picky about what you can bring in. But I did not see anything about metal detectors.
