I've been once before but can't remember how to get to the swimming area. Can someone please give me some instructions? And is there any swimming areas with shade?

Hi Susan, let me try and answer your question for ya. There is 4 swimming holes in upper park along the Yahi Trail. Access to the Yahi trail is right off the main access road. The four swimming holes are, in order, Alligator Hole, Bear Hole, Salmon Hole and Browns Hole. explorebuttecounty.com has some great information on the swimming holes as well. Hope this helps!

There are multiple swimming holes along Yahi trail in Upper Park.

Upper park= go East.on East Ave. You will come to a turnabout. Exit right before the kids park on left as you come around. Get directions to Bidwell park Golf course. That will get you going. Just go straight after golf course. Go thru gate and enjoy.
