I make our reservations 6 months in advance because we stay at specific site. We usually go in July, this is our first time in Aug. After a bison gourd a visitor (walked between two fighting bulls) may be more openings. Sorry cant help more..we have stayed at campground outside park but prefer cottonwood. Not sure if any sites in north park, this will be our first year visiting there as well. Good luck, be safe and plan on taking a lot of spectacular pictures...oh and stay 25+ yards from bison as they are especially aggressive this time of year

We visited 5/5 -5/8. Very few people, cool weather, lots of bison in camp and around. Horses in higher country.
