Not in my experience. Although you might be able to see other campers and their set ups, there is a decent amount of space between sites, so you should be good. It's really a beautiful place. I took my family out west to visit National Parks, and we stopped here between California and Utah. This campground was one of the highlights of the whole trip. This place is cool — literally; it was 110 degrees in Vegas (about an hour from this site), but at McWilliams it was a refreshing 75 degrees. Good luck! Enjoy. By the way, we were tent camping, too.
We camp here regularly in the summer. Some campers with trailers will use generators since there are no electric lots. There are quiet hours however there have been times when people choose not to follow them. If you love camping and do it often, you know the risks. When you sleep in a tent, as we do, you understand that there is no such thing as noise reduction while in a tent. LOL We have experienced extremely peaceful nights and nights where couples fight, children cry, generators run and people party way too late! We still love it though!
Having stayed there this past weekend I can answer my own question. I didn't hear any generators. However, at 2:21am, a 2-year-old two campsites away had a total melt down. He screamed and screamed and screamed. For close to 20 minutes. They tried putting him in the car and we could still hear him. Another camper screamed for them to do something. But, sometimes, you can't control a screaming 2-year-old. I could never go back to sleep and we left a day early. It was not a good experience overall. Our tent site was right by the road (it was the only walk up left). And, I mean RIGHT BY THE ROAD. We heard every person walking to go to the bathroom. I will camp by the side of the road in Lee Canyon before I stay here again.
There are usually quite hours. I think its after 10pm they should not be using generators.

The RVs were very quiet when we went last month. The entire area was very peaceful
