Needed to escape the valley heat, Benicia State Recreation Park delivered. Review is based on camp ground only. Not day use area (seeing that tomorrow.) On June 26th only 2 of 3 camping spots open. Great dry camping. Spot 2, which was closed, and spot 3 have easier access to a water spigot if needed. Port-a-potties near the camp grounds which are right near the pay station. $12 a night first come first serve. Great breezes, nice rangers, friendly people. Will be back the next time the valley is in the 100s.

I really enjoyed going to benicia it has a comforting way of making you feel at peace at least for me anyway you don't have to drive far to enjoy the water and view. It's a nice place to just enjoy.

Rv/car camping spots (only 3, 12$) have spicket water at them, no electricity, the pad is dirt not pavement, so a bit uneven but not terrible. Water doesn't taste great. There's a picnic table and grill at each spot. Porta potties only in this area. I got here at 5pm on a Tuesday in mid fall and no one had claimed any yet. Inside the actual park there are flush toilets with sinks. There were outlets in those bathrooms, didn't check if they worked. You'd need more than a 50' extension to bring it anywhere. Plenty of picnic table and grill spots in the main area. Great to break/eat and wait till bay traffic dies down.

Tent camping is not allowed there must be fully self-contained RV
Hi Henry, The park is open 24 7 if you walk in. The drive to the back in very long I would guess about a mile. The gates to the back part is open from 7am to dusk . The camping area is always open . The prices are very good. Day use is 6 dollars Camping 12 per night. O you are only allowed to camp 1 night.... Hope this helps. Have a great trip. Isaac C.
They allow one night. You may ask for a second night.
They do not. This is for enroute camping only. That means usually from 4 or 5pm till 9-10 am with no hookups. It's mostly just a place to spend the night while you are on the road, which I will say this is one of the best we have ever stopped at.

Not in the park. It's full hook ups and almost $30 a night. No BLM land anywhere in the area.
Yes ...it's full hook ups and they have restrooms in the park
They don't allow tents. You can park your rv or trailer for one night, check out 9:30am, for $12.00 cash only. Check in 3pm-4pm. It is a very beautiful, peaceful, people friendly, clean park. I always enjoy the refreshing energy. They even have beavers! Also you pay a $6 fee to enjoy day use. Opens at crack of dawn, sunset is closing time..... or be towed.
