No rapids, good for groups to chat and enjoy scenery and those with limited experience, but who know how to steer a vessel. It's a wide river, that gets a little shallow in spots. Rowing or paddling IS necessary to steer the vessel around other people, to go around shallower areas or away from the riverbanks. (We went with a group of 8 kayakers the weekend of July 4th. Only my husband and I were very experienced, the others had been kayaking very little on lakes or had never kayaked before, so we gave them a few minutes of basic steering instructions. Over a 3 hr trip, we had 2 times when people were kayaking side by side and distracted by talking did someone get caught because they didn't have enough time for both people to steer away in time (once by "bottoming out" on a shallow spot and another got held up in a little brush at the river's edge).
