Yes and you can get a temporary Georgia license for a day or how ever many days you will be there, if you are not a Georgia resodent.
Yes there is great fishing there right now. Especially since everything is flooded everywhere else. The water is up there as well but makes for good fishing since the fish are getting up in the grass and leaves and feeding like crazy. The park is and always has been a clean, great staffed park. I used to have land that was adjacent to it. The trails are in great shape. You can even walk in and camp the trails are very well maintained for bike riding as well, mountain bike riding that is. I keep a yearly membership to you the part that's how much I like it.
