Okay so I know there is deadly animals up here. Do they have cabins? Is it safe to go on trails or am I able to arm myself?

You are safe. Bears are sleeping and wolves shouldn't bother you.

Yeah you probably won't see any bears this time of year in my experience - perhaps an occasional coyote but i've done plenty of hiking and was never bothered. But peace of mind is worth 1000 peoples' advice! Better safe than sorry :)

Would you bring babies here on the trails, unarmed? (I might be asking a stupid question)

Devin Valentine | Apr 1, 2019

As every real yooper knows wolves are unpredictable we’ve all seen it before along with our cats up here, better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it, be smart and bring it if you don’t your asking for trouble

Personally I'd have a side arm with me. Bears won't be a problem, but we have wolves and coyotes. Occasionally, a cougar will be spotted.

You should be ok this time of year

I'll be going in summer.

Very safe, but male bears still wonder around. But nocturnal now. Wetmore has nice cabins
