How do I care for the amaryllis bulb that I purchased in your store last December? It is in a small wooden base with a pine cone and artificial berries for decoration. It has finished blooming and has several green leaves growing up.

Your amaryllis will grow dormant after a while. Set it in it's container in a dark place for about 2 months. I cover mine with a brown paper bag. Then bring it out and water. Set in a eastern room so it gets partial sun and let grow again. Mine always blooms again fot Christmas.

Take the bulb off the wooden base and plant it in a pot with soil, up to the neck of the bulb to the point where the leaves are coming out. Keep it moist. Provide sunshine. Fertilize it with Espoma Bulb Tone, according to package directions.

Fertilize the bulb and leaves each week for 2-4 more months. Then cut back the leaves and put the pot in a cool, dark place and do not water for at least 6 weeks. Restart watering and light exposure 4-6 weeks before you hope for new blooms.
