Your best, and up to date, answers will be obtained directly from the Park Rangers. Are you really to trust the general public for information about bears and other things that bite?
No bears watch for hogs though.
We were there in the summer. Like above fresh boar tracks but didn't see anything. As an experienced hiker, ALWAYS check with the park rangers. They have up to date info for that area to keep you safe. Loved that park! Enjoy!
Call them
I camped by canoe a few month ago. Pigs were every where. You may want a hammock up high. I used a tent with no problems. We had some trees we had to portage around. Not a problem but time consuming it you are on a schedule.
You need to select a site and check out their website.
Definitely contact the rangers. When we were there last month, December, there were many waterways that were closed due to downed trees. We decided that we would wait another year before doing any kayaking. The heavy rains caused a lot of timberfall.
I agree with the other local guides; consult with the Park Ranges about the presence of wildlife and river conditions during the month of February. If heavy rain is in the forecast, more than likely flooding with persist in the area.
There are alligators , king snakes and wild bores...but I would call for more info. It's a very large area. Depends on where you go.
Great kayaking. The only problem you might have is if there is a lot off rain a couple of day before, the water level may get too high. So just watch the weather report, I have heard stories of bears from old timers and seen game camera pictures of bears but i have never seen any miself, they are small and very few in number. 1 warning would be if its warm keep an eye out for Water Moccosins hanging in the trees above the creek and swimming up to your kayak. 2 warning wild pigs.
