Not to be redundant, but I've always use the gas station parking lot as everybody else stated as well. Never had a problem.
I parked behind gas station.
Gas station has spots
In the gas station parking lot. There are spaces reserved for the park.
Behind the adjacent gas station. That is the officially sanctioned place to park.
