No, gates are behind security. You can meet them down in baggage claim or just outside the secured area on the way to baggage claim. For what it's worth, the signage going to baggage claim from the gate is nice and clear.

Two hours ago , I arrived at MEM , and witnessed a TSA "blue shirt" get very serious with someone who was waiting too close to the exit of the concourse. Definitely no greeting at the gate. You CAN meet your people at the baggage claim.
