Zoos that belong to the AZA are in breeding programs with SSP AND PMP coordinatiors. These breeding programs give recommendations on genetically underrepresented animals of their species and are managed through this program. They will make recommendatiins for animals to leave for another facility for breeding or to come here for breeding. Any babies born into zoo life stay in these programs and hopefully become breeders when they mature.
