Camping at Hemlock Cliffs is now prohibited: Camping is not allowed in the Hemlock Cliffs area. This prohibition includes anywhere along or adjacent to the trail system. An earlier closure order banned camping at the trailhead and parking area, as well as within the large rock shelter at Hemlock Cliffs. “We continue to hear that this is the most beautiful place in southern Indiana,” said District Ranger Chris Zimmer. “We want to keep it that way, and the area is suffering from over use, the vegetation is being trampled, and vandalism has occurred.” Zimmer went on to explain that the Hoosier has an obligation to protect the special biological communities located adjacent to the trail system. He emphasizes that they want to make this area accessible to people to visit while still ensuring the sensitive plant life living in the micro-habitat of the cliffs and ravine are protected from damage."
I believe so, just not in the rock shelters. Hoosier national forests (of which Hemlock Cliffs belongs) allow camping if you're a certain distance from the trail. The problem would be finding a place to park as there is no overnight parking in the lot attached. Vehicles staying overnight could be towed at owners expense.
No. Camping is not permitted. I've heard you can get a permit from HNF office?
