I had no reservation and got right in.
It helps with seating, especially on heavy days. Not necessary but with a large crowd it helps. It costs nothing.

We get there when they open. And dont have to wait at all. Guess it depends on when you want to arrive. Ita never been overly packed when we've went. You will probably be fine jist to show up unless you just want to reserve a table.
I've done reservations on same day before. Just depends what day of the week some are really busy and others aren't
