They have been having bluegreen algae blooms which brings cyanotoxins. The water could be unsafe to swim in and definitely unsafe to drink. It can not be boiled clean so dont try. Salem has active warning against drinking the cities tap water as it gets its water from Detroit lake. 🙏🌲✌

Last week we were there. The water looked funny & the guys said it was pollen. So getting back to your question, we didn't get into the water.

The lake is full, but there is a blue green algae warning. The water is unsafe to drink.
