Schat breads are baked in European stone hearth ovens using Sierra well water which lends to the deep darker crusts. Enjoy! It doesn't get any better than that!

That's the true European way to cook bread Soft in the middle and dark burnt to ad flavor. Just cut the crust off if you do like it! Its easy Wouldn't be FAMOUS SHATTS without the crust!!!
I never thought they looked over baked... Each and every time i have purchased bread from Schat's it has been delicious.
